| CPI Core Practice Areas
|
| CPI is a highly focused and customer driven IT solutions provider. As such, we know that we will provide more value in our customer relationships if we look to specialize rather than try to be all things to all customers. CPI has responded to customer demand by chosing our three core areas of technology focus. In each of these areas CPI has sought to develop solid engineering expertise, strong vendor relationships and best practices to deliver complete solutions to our customers' business problems. CPI's three core practice areas center around the following technologies:
|
Enterprise Network Security:
It's a common understanding today that the number and severity of external threats to network and data security are increasing at an incredible pace. A firewall alone does not present a sufficient deterrent to a would-be intruder, it is only one of the building blocks necessary in providing a secure computing environment. What's needed is a comprehensive and muti-pronged security strategy that is flexible and can keep pace with the changing times. Computer Professionals has built a security practice around several vendors' software and hardware products to offer our customers best of breed security solutions.
CPI is proud to be one of a select group of Cisco Partners to have earned the VPN/Security Specialized Partner designation.
|
Enterprise Data Storage:
As an organization's server infrastructure grows from three servers to ten servers to twenty servers over time, managing the storage and backup needs on those platforms becomes a sizeable challenge for IT professionals. Centralizing storage and backup into one cohesive environment is the answer. Computer Professionals has developed considerable expertise with software and hardware products from major storage vendors to craft storage and backup solutions for organizations of all sizes.
Computer Professionals has joined forces with storage leader EMC and is participating in their Velocity Partner Program. Inclusion in this program acknowledges CPI's investments in both sales and technical training, certification and ability to strategically design, install and support storage solutions.
|
Server-based Computing:
The technology life cycle is spinning faster today than ever. Many IT managers may feel that they cannot keep pace with the rapid changes confronting them each day. With the continuous evolution and obsolesence of desktop computing devices, operating systems, and applications comes chaos for the IT manager. Centralized application deployment and management coupled with thin-client computing devices can be a highly cost effective solution and can help an organization keep pace with changes in technology in an extremely efficient manner.
CPI is a Citrix Systems' Gold Partner. Citrix is the leading provider of server-based computing software. We have extensive experience with this technology and a long list of satisfied customers who have deployed this technology and have achieved substantial cost savings as a result. CPI has the proud distinction of having the largest installed base of Citrix solution in the Capital Region of New York.

|
Network Operating Systems:
Network Operating Systems are at the heart of every data network. The importance of a well-designed and well-maintained NOS environment is critical to the on-going availabilty of networked resources.
CPI employs some of the brightest NOS engineers in our market. Our staff of engineering professionals includes several certified individuals such as Microsoft MCSE-Windows NT 4, MCSE-Windows 2000 / 2003 and Novell CNE 5 and 6. Our expertise in this area is suitable whether an organization is bringing their first server on-line or upgrading an entire enterprise server environment.
|
Electronic Messaging:
Imagine performing your job today without electronic messaging. Email has, in many cases, become the de facto communcation standard for all businesses and individuals today replacing faxing, traditional mail, voice mail and, unfortunately sometimes, face to face communication. In fact, many IT managers see their ability to provide email communications to the end-user community one of their most important functions. In many organizations, email has become as much of a business critical communication function as the telephone.
Our engineers are highly experienced and certified in both Microsoft Exchange and Novell GroupWise.

| Consulting and Integration
|
| In addition to our core and ancillary services, CPI offers customers the following ROI oriented offerings.
|
Technology Plans:
The technology world is fast paced and changes are constant. Everyday you are faced with decisions that have both short-term and long-term system impacts. They range from desktop related issues to communications issues. In what context are these decisions made? It is vital that these decisions be made in the context of an overall technology plan, yet few organizations have one. CPI can help develop short-term and long-term technology plans. Our staff will work with you and your staff to understand your long-term business objectives, and the critical role that technology will need to plan. CPI will provide you with a written plan that can be implemented and updated over time.
|
IT PRO-active Services:
There's not enough time in the day to both work in your business and to work on your business. Your computing environment is an essential business asset. Ensuring its continued availability is of the utmost concern. Trust CPI to take that burden off your shoulders so that you can focus your energies on improving your business.
IT PRO-active is a service offering intended to maximize an organization's network uptime and realize a greater ROI from the investment made in Information Technologies. The service starts off with CPI remotely monitoring critical functions of file servers and personal computers. Next, a CPI Systems Engineer will be sent on site on a periodic basis to check the integrity of data systems, tape back ups, backup power systems, anti-virus systems as well as network infrastructure compnents.
The net effect of this service is that it allows business owners / managers to concentrate their time on their core business issues rather than managing the computing environment thereby increasing the ROI from technology investments.
|
IT PRO-secure Services:
Ensuring the security of your information resources is a full-time job. Managing and testing the security of your environment are all important aspects that need to be tended to by a trained and trusted professional. CPI stands ready and able to help you minimize network downtime associated with security breaches.
IT PRO-secure building off of the success of our IT PRO-active offering, combines three crucial phases towards assessing, building and maintaining a secured environment.
Phase I - Assessment:
CPI's Security Specialists will perform an on-site security inventory of your environment and identify highly critical security areas. From this inventory, we'll develop a security profile and a multi-phased security design.
Phase II - Implementation:
Once a security plan is in place, CPI will use best of breed software and hardware products to implement a solution that adheres to the design that was created in Phase 1.
Phase III - Maintenance:
Security infrastructure components need to be continuously monitored and updated. As new hacker and virus techniques appear, security system vendors update their products. On a periodic basis, a CPI Security Specialist will be on site to update the software and firmware in the various security components.
In addition to the on-site visits, CPI will monitor security trends, review security related updates from vendors and industry watchdogs and alert IT PRO-secure clients of issues that affect their environment.
|
Customer Support Center:
The CPI customer support center helps increase the availability of your network, applications and systems through timely, expert resolution of system challenges. Our dedicated internal support staff is available for 8 to 5 on business days. During this time, you are assured fast access to a technical team dedicated to providing priority response.
